The consultation will listen to all views expressed by residents, meet landowners to understand their intentions, consider the needs of other user groups e.g. businesses, community groups and operate within statutory regulations.
The Parish Councils intend to reflect on the outcome of this consultation, alongside a separate technical assessment, to help gather further insights and guide a decision on the preferred strategy for future growth in the area.
To implement a preferred strategy for future housing growth, the Councils will adopt several co-ordinated approaches. These include:
- Updating the Neighbourhood Plan
- Responding proactively to the emerging Local Plan
- Engaging with planning applications as they arise
The revised Neighbourhood Plan will aim to incorporate as much of the community’s preferred strategy for future growth as possible. This may involve a combination of allocating specific sites to help address the pressure created by the presumption in favour of sustainable development, protecting as far as is possible specific areas important to the local community, guiding the design of new development including their role in delivering green rings around our settlements, and any other possible policy responses to ensure that new development aligns with local priorities and addresses local concerns.
